Delivering leisure as an agent on behalf of Trafford Council

We’re pleased to share an important update about how we deliver leisure for Trafford Council. While we have always delivered leisure services for our local authority, we have now taken a step to make this clearer for our customers.

This change means that we are now officially acting as an agent on behalf of Trafford Council to deliver leisure services. We’ve taken this step in response to advice from HMRC, following a recent legal challenge in 2023, which changed the VAT status of sport and leisure services provided by local authorities. As well as strengthening our relationship with Trafford Council, it means we are operating in the most financially effective way, so we’ll be able to invest more in our services and the community.

Day to day at our sites, you shouldn’t notice many changes and you won’t need to do anything. Trafford Leisure will still be running the centres and providing the same friendly and professional service you have come to expect. Behind the scenes, we’ll be making some updates to make sure it’s clear that we’re delivering leisure services for the Council, so you may spot this. But rest assured it will still be Trafford Leisure who handle your enquiries, manage your information and run the centres.
