Our Commitment

Equality, equity, diversity and inclusion is critical for the success of Trafford Leisure and the achievement of our vision. We are fully committed to treating all of our people, job applicants and volunteers equally and equitably. As an employer, we aspire to be a diverse, inclusive and responsible organisation.

We believe in people. We believe that with the right opportunities, everyone should reach their full potential and we believe that moving more, sport and physical activity is a fundamental key to unlocking potential. Our aim is to have a workforce that not only thrives, but also reflects and understands the communities we work for and with, and one which encourages a sense of belonging for our team and partners.

Our Ambitions

  1. To develop and grow workforce (internal and external) EEDI knowledge, understanding, and confidence.
  2. Greater diversity and inclusion in all its forms on our Board and across the Trafford Leisure team, so we are more representative of our Trafford Community, recognising that this makes us better able to understand their needs and priorities.
  3. To actively seek out the unrepresented voice and encourage sharing of lived experience to assist the reflective learning and growth opportunities for our Board and across the Trafford Leisure Team.
  4. An organisation that leads by example. One that celebrates diversity and promotes inclusion and consciously creates a culture which promotes equality and respect.
  5. We embed EEDI into all that we do: Our operations, how we interact with one another, our behaviours, and that we meet/exceed all EEDI standards.
  6. An inclusive, safe and supportive environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging and is given a fair and equal chance to fulfil their potential and thrive.
  7. We recognise that equality is not simply about treating everyone the same and that equity is key, we will make appropriate adjustments to ensure equal opportunities for all.
  8. By 2026, our marketing images and videos are of real people from our team and community of Trafford and fully represent the community we operate in.

Throughout 2024 we will be developing an Action Plan which will identify actions needed to achieve, support and then maintain the ambitions outlined above. Our plan will be a living piece of work, with all members of the Trafford Leisure team and community encouraged to keep suggesting new ideas and guiding the nature and pace of implementation. Everyone has an important contribution to make.
