Board of Directors

We’ll establish a transparent and fitting governance framework, overseen by a Board of Directors collectively committed to Trafford Leisure’s enduring prosperity. This Board will possess exclusive authority to guide the organization, ensuring it operates with proper structure and efficiency.

Role of the Board

The Board of Directors meet throughout the year to oversee the business, strategy and long term planning of Trafford Leisure.

Trafford Leisure’s direction is led by the Board which is responsible for its long term success and governance.

At each meeting the Board reviews progress of the Company towards its objectives and receives papers on key subjects which typically cover:

  • Strategy and budgets
  • Business and financial performance
  • Company activities/events
  • Governance
  • Human resources

Meet the Board

Andy works as an Executive Director in the business. In 2004 Andy was awarded the MBE for his services to Sports Administration.  In 2013 he was awarded the OBE for his services to the London 2012 Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games.

Andy has enjoyed a long career in local government with Lothian Regional Council, Harrogate Borough Council and then the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral. He was Chair of CLOA from 1999-2001 and Chief Executive of the Institute of Leisure and Amenity Management until 2004. He has served as a board member of Sport England and the National Lottery (Sport) Panel and was Chair of the North West Regional Sports Board from 2004 until 2009. He was Chair of the North West Steering Group for the 2012 Games after winning the bid in 2005 through to the end of the Games in October 2012.

Eamonn has worked in the sport and leisure industry for over 40 years.  He has vast experience of working in the voluntary sport sector and Sport England.  Eamon was the Chairman of the 2017 PSA World Squash Championships Stakeholder Board for the World Squash Championships.  Eamonn is in charge of Leisure, Parks and Cultural Assets, specialising in the letting of assets and collaborative working.

Rachel is a senior HR leader with 20 years specialising in Reward, Pay & Benefits across a range of industries in the private and not for profit sectors, with keen a focus on employee engagement, people & organisation transformation and pay market insight. Rachel is a local resident and member and user of Trafford Leisure services, bringing customer insight from an individual and family user perspective. Rachel has a keen interest in health, wellbeing & sport and is a run coach for local community running clubs and enjoys participating in running events. Rachel has a keen interest in watching football, cricket & rugby league and her family’s junior sports teams as well as a music lover and regular gig goer.

Catherine is passionate about how fitness and wellbeing can improve lives and being a local resident and user of Trafford Leisure has an understanding of things first hand from a customer’s point of view. Catherine is a Client Partner at Slalom, a modern consultancy that helps client with strategy, technology and business transformation.  For many years Catherine has worked in data & analytics leading teams and delivering projects, focusing on data strategy and business intelligence. Catherine’s main personal interests are fitness! A keen runner, with strength training and yoga for a bit of balance. Catherine is usually training for an event of some sort in order to keep her focused.

Richard is a dynamic member of the Corporate Leadership Team within Trafford Council, with strategic lead responsibility for inclusive economic growth, development, housing, homelessness, planning, building control, highways, transport, regulatory services, community safety, leisure provision and the One Trafford Partnership.

He works towards the delivery of sustainable economic and housing growth, vibrant town centres and accessible green spaces, leads on the Council’s investment and development portfolio, and is a non-executive Director of GreaterSport and Trafford Leisure CIC.

Working with Trafford Council since 2010, Richard has demonstrated a strong approach in developing the borough and meeting the Council’s ambitions for sustainable growth and being an economic powerhouse within Greater Manchester.

Director at a global funding company specialising in National and International Leisure and Construction projects, Sue has a keen understanding of the business needs of both individuals and companies.

A proactive member of the business community, Sue is CEO of Altrincham & Sale Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Trafford Leisure Board, the Trafford Economic Growth Committee and the Altrincham BID Executive Team.

Sue Aldridge – a former student at Loreto and South Trafford colleges – has spent most of her working life in banking & finance. She is a Lady Knight of the Round Table.

Yvonne was born in Urmston and grew up in Stretford and Sale. She graduated from Bristol University and spent time working in Bristol, Bath, Gloucester and Adelaide before returning back home to Trafford. Initially Yvonne trained as a surgeon but having completed her surgical exams decided to move into General Practice and became a member of the Royal College of General Practice in 2004. For the last five years Yvonne have worked as a GP at Boundary House and is also a Clinical Advisor at Trafford CCG aiming to reduce physical inactivity. Yvonne initiated and continues to develop the “Trafford Walking for Health Scheme” which, with the support of a band of fantastic volunteers, is promoting the establishment of walks linked with GP surgeries across Trafford.
