Looking for an exciting and rewarding job? We’re hiring Leisure Attendants / Lifeguards across our Altrincham, Sale, Stretford and Urmston sites, and we’ll pay for your National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)

  • Pay: As a Real Living Wage employer, we guarantee a minimum pay of £12.60 per hour starting from 1st April 2025.
  • Hours: Full-time (36.25 hours per week)

What the Lifeguard role involves:

  • Provide lifeguard support to ensure customer safety
  • Check in and assist customers
  • Set up activity areas and equipment
  • Maintain hygiene and cleanliness standards

You must be a competent swimmer who is able to swim 50 metres within 60 seconds.

Our sites follow a rota over 2-3 weeks, incorporating a mix of early and late shifts, including one weekend in three. Shifts range from a 6am start to a 10:15pm finish. We prioritise work-life balance by ensuring all employees receive two days off per week and have a clear, predictable schedule to help them plan their personal and professional commitments.

The NPLQ course is due to take place on 28th April – 2nd May 2025 at Stretford Sports Village – you must be available to attend these dates

What Does a Typical Day Look Like? As a volunteer at Trafford Leisure, your day will vary depending on the role you are helping with, but all positions involve engaging with the local community, providing support, and ensuring that everyone has a positive and enjoyable experience. You’ll receive training and support from our dedicated team, and your involvement will help keep our facilities running smoothly.

Your Tasks May Include:

  • Greeting and welcoming visitors or participants to the facility
  • Assisting with event or class setup and tidying up afterward
  • Supporting staff in delivering a variety of activities or services
  • Providing friendly and helpful assistance to participants as needed
  • Helping with the setup of equipment and ensuring safety
  • Providing one-on-one support to participants during sessions or activities
  • Helping to maintain a clean, organised environment

You Will Not Be Expected To:

  • Provide professional health or fitness advice
  • Handle heavy or technical equipment without proper training
  • Administer first aid (unless trained and certified)
  • Perform tasks you feel uncomfortable with or are not trained to do

Commitment: Volunteers are needed across a variety of shifts depending on the activity and location. Our venues are open throughout the week, so we can offer flexible volunteer opportunities. Volunteers must be comfortable working in a dynamic environment and are required to attend an initial training session (both online and in-person, depending on the role).

Location: Our volunteer roles are available at multiple Trafford Leisure venues, including a golf course, leisure centres, and community facilities across the area.
